I created this painting at an artists’ retreat with Janice Von Cronkite. I previously had a vi-sion of the white part of the angel’s wing, but it looked like a bone or a breastplate of some kind to me. After I painted this picture, it was eight months later that I actually saw the exact bone in the natural. I was at the family farm, seeking the face of God. I was looking for answers and felt directed to go to the back of the pasture where I hardly ever go. The place was an old cow cemetery where my dad had buried sick cows. I walked around, praying to the Father and asking, “Why did I feel led to come here?” Again there was a gentle nudging in my spirit, and I felt I was to walk a different path than the way I came. As I was walking, I looked down, and right in front of me was the exact bone I saw in the vision eight months prior. I know the number eight is significant — meaning a new beginning, a new order, or a new creation. I now feel the Lord was telling me it was time to bury the past and embrace the future. The bone was actually a backbone, but when I painted the vision, I thought of it as a breastplate. I felt the Lord was telling me that He goes before me, and He is my rear guard. I believe God has angels in place to protect the gold He has buried inside our hearts until we have the capacity to hold the anointing for our own destinies He has for us to release in the earth. At the time of this writing, I feel the Lord is highlighting the significance of walking a different path than the way I had come into my faith. Again, I let go of (bury) the past and kept my eyes on the cross. He has all things lined out.

The Angel of the Lord goes before us, making a way for the echoes of love from the cross. The angel protects our hearts of flesh until we have the key to unlock the gold from within. Once we know who we are, the butterfly emerges to release the beauty of heaven here on earth. We emerge from the cocoon and become what we were created for as transparent vessels for the love of God to flow through. We are working from the throne of grace not working for it.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
” For the Lord will go before you and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:1
