“The Miracle Sunrise” by Sallie Reid
God paints a masterpiece every morning and every evening. Do we have eyes to see the miracles of God unfold before us? He offers us peace for the taking every day, yet most of the time, we are too consumed with our own agenda to notice. If we only depend upon Him, He will supply what we need just in time. This painting was inspired through the doubting of my own ability in leading a painting conference at my church. I was feeling so low that I told the Lord I need a real miracle here. The Lord nudged me to look over at the sunrise. It was then I heard Him say, as if to squelch my own doubt, “Look over here and paint that.”
The beautiful scene was fleeting, and there was no time for a photo. However, I was able to paint what I saw. After I painted the sunrise at the conference, a friend, Dr. Quartermonte, recognized it as the morning’s sunrise. He said, “I noticed how beautiful it was and ran in to get my camera, but by the time I got back, it was gone.”
The moment was fleeting, but I knew it was a point to be made that God has what we need at the precise time we need it.
“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it
speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though
it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will
not delay.” Habakkuk 2:2
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He
has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one
can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11
“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” Lamentations 3:25-26
