The image for this painting came to me one day as I was meditating on the goodness of God. The juxtaposition of complementary colors lie as a parallel to life when opposites are in place. The issues of life can sometimes lie side-by-side and give homage to the reality that God can take any hardship and turn it into something good. The many reflections in the painting can be confusing until one steps back and is able to look at the image as a whole. As in our own lives, things can seem out of control until we are able to look back and see how the hand of God was working alongside us the whole time. Serenity glistens on the horizon of every sunset when we turn it all over to Him.
I painted this in 2008, and this morning, July 17, 2016, I realized I didn’t have a scripture reference. I asked the Lord what I should use and immediately Psalms 18:20 came to my mind. I did not know what it said until I looked it up. I am always amazed at the hand of God and how he directs our path. He tells the people in scripture to write the vision down for a future time. The visions and paintings from years ago give testimony of His tender hand gently guiding my heart all through my life. He makes things plain for us when we ask.
“God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before Him. When I got my act together, he gave me a fresh start. Now I’m alert to God’s ways. I don’t take God for granted. Every day I review the ways He works; I try not to miss a blessing. I feel put back together and I’m watching my step. God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to His eyes”. Psalm 18:20-24 MSG
