The bluebird has become a whisper of love, a kiss from the Father to me. It is as if every time I come away with the Lord, He answers the prayer of my heart and seals it with the sighting of the bluebird. I have learned to spend time alone with the Lord. I have learned how to be still in His presence, something that was foreign to me prior to 1993. I have had a quiet time of Bible study since I was thirteen years old, but learning to be still in the lap of Papa God was a new thing. The treasures I have learned to carry by spending time in His presence are irreplaceable. Now every time I see a bluebird, it seems to be directly connected to the heart of God. While praying about something, I will hear a word from the Father, and I will see a bluebird.
He has continued to show me amazing things about the bluebird. One day I was out-side, and I saw a bluebird up on a high line. I said, “You know, Father, I would really like to see that bluebird up close.” The next thing I knew, that bluebird flew down in front of me and hovered like a hummingbird does. It was remarkable and, no, I could not believe what I was seeing. Why would God care about letting me see a bluebird up close ---but He did. He longs to do things for each one of us. That is why He created us: to love us. I know He is a good God —At the same time I have come to understand the heartaches of this life can leave many to question God’s goodness. I refuse to let the enemy steal my belief that God is good all the time. I know that thought is as real as He is to me.
I hope the next time you see a bluebird you will ponder the goodness of God. The special little bird is a symbol of God’s love. Blue represents the revelation of heaven brought to the one who is exuberant and passionately in love with Him. Orange, the color that means passion, is found on the chest of the bird. I believe God is holding those who pursue him close to His heart. He is a good, good Father!
